This proposal is an opportunity to plan for and provide approximately 1,400 new homes for Kidderminster and help the town grow. The site has been identified in the emerging Wyre Forest District Council Local Plan, making it an ideal location for building much needed housing for the town.
At this stage of the proposals, the indicative masterplan allows for a mixture of types, tenure, size and costs of homes to meet the varied needs of existing and future residents. The over-arching principle is to ensure a balanced mix of new homes to suit families, first time buyers, later living and people who may wish to design and build their own home.
In line with local policy requirements, 25% of all homes will be affordable. This commitment will be secured through a legal agreement at the outline planning application stage.
A Design & Access Statement will provide information on how the development will look and feel. It will establish the design principles for the site and ensures a high-quality development.
We are planning for a blend of buildings up to two to three storeys in height with the taller properties confined to the centre of the site, along the proposed spine road. A maximum building height of two storeys is proposed within the north of the site to reflect existing properties off Husum Way and Tennyson Way. This is consistent with the existing residential areas to the west of the site and will help the development to sit within its landscape setting.
